Tegea Folklore Museum

If you want to discover the unique tradition of the Greek Folk, you have to visit the Tegea Folklore Museum. It’s open since 1996 and it’s accommodated in a building that belonged to the former Housekeeping School of Tegea. It offers a perfect presentation of the everyday life within the region, which makes you grasp the culture and the tradition of the place that you’re visiting. It’s a very important educational asset in the area and it welcomes you in the best way possible.
Important Exhibits:
Objects of folklore art, such as utensils used in everyday life, traditional weavings and clothes, local costumes, embroideries, looms, old typewriters and calculators, scales, radios, photo collections, exhibits from the alumni of the Home Economics School, workshops’ reenactments of traditional professions, a reenactment of a traditional house, the Olympic torch from the first Olympic Games that symbolizes the spirit of the area.
